We are so excited to have come this far. At the recent general congregational meeting held on August 23rd, a virtual tour of our new Temple Emanuel was presented. It is going to be a truly wonderful facility for all of us to enjoy for years to come. The Capital Campaign Committee has also now selected a builder and construction is expected to begin before year-end. A ground breaking ceremony will be held and the entire congregation will be invited to attend. Information will be forthcoming.
This is a project that we hope will involve the participation of every member of the congregation. If you have not yet had a chance to make a pledge, we welcome it at any time. We think that each member will want to be a part of the new Temple, and will be so proud of the new facility. Please look deep into your hearts and into your finances and give as much as you are possibly able to. We can accept pledges of cash or securities (stock). Any pledge made can be paid out over a five year period. Our fundraising goal is 4 million dollars, and so far 2.9 million dollars has been pledged. It is therefore imperative to raise additional funds and to make sure every member of this congregation participates financially. Contact any of the Temple Board members to make a pledge.
This building is for all of us now, but also for our future generations of our children, grandchildren and any Jewish people who choose to move into our community. This Temple was here when each of us came to McAllen and we ALL have used it for every occasion and holiday. It is our responsibility to do the same for those who follow us. We're counting on you!
